Europe (like me) it was never easy to buy movies from full moon’s gigantic back

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Plotwise
there aren’t any big surprises, but it never<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>was planned to have a strong story anyway. The movie does has some other things
going for it. First of all this was the first American movie filmed in Romania,
and it shows with some very nice, traditional scenery and a lot of locals in
background roles. And second it uses a lot of traditional ideas about vampires.
Radu’s vampire makeup is a perfect example how a vampire should look. It looks like
an updated version of Nosferatu with the long fingernails, creepy but not over
the top. They also use local folklore like
a dance festival combining with the unearthing the grave of the undead.</span></div>

Something else this time, a Jess Franco adult flick (or is it?)<br />
<ul>
<li>Year of release: 1984</li>
<li>Director: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001238/">Jesus Franco</a></li>
<li>Genre: Adult </li>

Lilian has the honor to be the first Spanish xxx movie. While Jess Franco was filming this flick Spain changed it porn laws making it legal to shoot a porno. Franco, always the one to seize a sleaze opportunity then decided to just shoot some hardcore porno scenes to include with his already shoot footage making this the first Spanish porno. And if you watch the movie you can definitly tell what scenes where shot afterwards and added back in.
If you take away those scenes their is a well directed movie to be found somewhere underneath.<br />
<br />

<br />
The movie starts with Antonio Mayans (Robert Foster) finding a naked, passed out girl (Katja Bienert) laying unconscious on the road, after trying to help her, the girl tells here story (all in flashbacks).
She was invited to live with a couple (Emilio
Linder and the beautiful Lina Romay) in wat seemed like a good deal. Meanwhile though the couple abused all of their "guests" in different ways, a local bar was used as the meeting point for these kinds of people. Doubling as a sort of brothel.
I'll save you the details on what kind of acts she had to do.
After hearing this Antonio decides to take the law in his own hands and goes out for vengeance.<br />

<br />
In the movies defense, Katje Bienert is looking great here, she doesn't do any hardcore scenes (they are def. filmed afterwards) eventhough she is naked for the title scene and the opening scene.<br />
<br />
Bienert has also stated that she has no recollection of being in a porno, Jess franco shooted some scenes with here and the way he works is that he just make a movie around that. Of course not paying Bienert or the other actors who appeared in the movie.<br />
<br />
It's a typical Jess Frenco movie with lots of surreal scenes, a nice soundtrack and lots of weird closeup shots. I have to say that 10 minutes of close up shot of vagina's and penises was an awkward thing to sit through, but what else to expect from the master of akward close up shots.<br />
I need to mention as well that I fast-forwarded to most of the sex scenes, making this a very short flick to watch.<br />
<br />
<br />
All in all not a great movie, not as a normal movie and not as a porno. But definitely an imported one!<br />
I'm just glad I've seen another Jess Franco movie of the hundreds that I have left to see.<br />

<br />
The movie starts with one guy probably choking somebody but we don't see who. Then the title rolls in and we get to see what happened before. An interesting way to start a movie.<br />

So the story is about two friends, Dan and Tom who are colleagues but also childhood friends who made movies together. To renew their friendship Dan invites Tom over to his place to watch a movie, turns out its a snuff film that Dan received from somewhere. <br />
<br />
We see that Tom is disgusted by this, while Dan plays it off as a joke.<br />
Slowly Tom gets more and more depressed with his life, he takes no more interest in his family.<br />
At night all he can think about is the snuff film he saw, daydreaming about it and neglecting love to his wife and kid.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The tape itself shows a naked women getting her stomach cut open and somebody putting his hand in there. Hence the title of the movie.<br />
<br />
Dan being the bachelor that he is gets a date with a hot waitress, they go back to his place to <span class="st">make the beast with two backs. Later on Dan receives a new snuff movie, this time it turns out the victim is the waitress he slept with. Obvious this now creates a lot of tension since Dan is freaked out and Tom is suspecting Dan. I will not spoil the ending but it's clear to say that it turns a bit in a whodunnit that keeps you guessing even after the movie has ended.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<span class="st"><br /></span>
<span class="st">There is some suspense being created during the movie but it takes a while before it starts working. (read as: the movie starts out slow). Until before the murder everything went along quite boringly, the first half hour could be skipped and you wouldn't really mis a lot.</span><br />
<br />
The acting is pretty good, definitely does not feel like a real low budget thriller, and while I did not really like Dan. I think that's more about how the character was written (not very lickable) than because of the actor.<br />
While 'Gut' can be a drag sometimes, if you manage to ignore that there is a pretty suspenseful thriller underneath.<br />
The music is some sort of eerie electronic vibe that does creates some tension and was a good choice, affordable but a bit haunting.<br />
<br />
All in all not the best movie from 2012, but if you like low budget films, give it a try.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: </b>5/10 gutted bellies. <br />

<br />
Here is a new bluray review, this time a sequel to the awesome remake Piranha 3D from 2010. Oh right this time its definitely not spoiler free, I will be rambling on about everything. You have been warned.<br />
<ul align="justify" style="text-align: left;">
<li>Year of release:2012</li>
<li>Director: John Gulager</li>
<li>Genre: Comedy/Horror</li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1714203/">IMDB Page</a></li>
</ul>
Well I wanted to see this for a long time. I loved Piranha 3D, while being campy and often stupid it has great action, practical effects an was just plain fun. This did not get released theatrically over here so I had to wait till it came on tv to see it.<br />
<br />
The movie opens with a Gary Busy cameo that's pretty pointless, he's just put in there because he is Gary Busy, always looking like he's about to snap and go insane.<br />
So the movie opens with them finding a dead cow in a lake who farts out piranha egg and well that should explain most of the movie. Oh right the cow farts to much and instantly explodes making the eggs hatch? wtf indeed.<br />
So Gary's dead now? Nope, he returns and bites one of these fuckers head off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_ngSzY3gofWZ6bFQhpY8dlworBjwxBu-nj7JbBO18TJZotYRKveH2ZnvHImFtolg5orwnJPCdTU-GgvXSF1CUw8cjp_OvCPClCmvpZn1cGLQSvImL4-qFigHkFwRnRvLsCOmdcuc1Xo4/s1600/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h10m47s119.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_ngSzY3gofWZ6bFQhpY8dlworBjwxBu-nj7JbBO18TJZotYRKveH2ZnvHImFtolg5orwnJPCdTU-GgvXSF1CUw8cjp_OvCPClCmvpZn1cGLQSvImL4-qFigHkFwRnRvLsCOmdcuc1Xo4/s640/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h10m47s119.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>The prince of craziness</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
So what can we learn from this opening? Well that the CGI looks pretty awful again. <br />
After the opening we meet "Chet" (played by the great <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0462712/">David Koechner</a>), who inherited a swimming pool and decided the best plan for the future is replacing the swimguards by strippers. No ordinary strippers mind you but "water certified strippers." Oh yeah I almost forgot the adult pool, cause nudity worked so well the first time around we have to have as much as possible in the sequel right?<br />
So basically Chet is just being the dickhead of this movie, especially towards or main character Maddy (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1263939/">Danielle Panabaker</a>) but she's being a party pooper anyways. Luckily their is more nudity to forgot the awful dialogs. <br />
<br />
<i>"-what are you thinking about?"<br />"nothing much."<br />"-Lets take off all our clothes and go swimming."</i><br />
That has NEVER happen to me in real life, and I have visited pools before.<br />
<br />
Their is another stupid scene where young attractive girl A and boy B
are in a truck about to have sex. She handcuffs him and in all the
excitement he unlocks the parking brake with his foot? Of course the truck starts moving and they end up in the lake. Guess what happens she
can't find the key anymore and they both get eaten. It's just too stupid
to work. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAkxOjl25n4Xt5mT01WCM6jbpBJbNpWbsIfi2uLFKoblOY3EH9iL2B3aO-94NHoYg-jPgh-8JRIHILXWATwphOCa4xvpQqoSI6Cw5xTjovaok31qHBrn9b6bz44z-4NRKLfe8rH-wdMA/s1600/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h22m37s121.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmAkxOjl25n4Xt5mT01WCM6jbpBJbNpWbsIfi2uLFKoblOY3EH9iL2B3aO-94NHoYg-jPgh-8JRIHILXWATwphOCa4xvpQqoSI6Cw5xTjovaok31qHBrn9b6bz44z-4NRKLfe8rH-wdMA/s640/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h22m37s121.png" width="640" /></a></div>
Let's not forget that Piranha 3D also had a lot of stupid stuff but it still all seemed to work better then here, maybe the <span class="short_text" id="result_box" lang="en"><span class="hps">abundance of practical effects had a lot to do with it.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span class="short_text" id="result_box" lang="en"><span class="hps">S</span></span>ome more examples of the great, smart dialog<br />
<i>"-What's wrong?"<br />"You think Ashley is prettier then me?"<br />"-No i never got into girls with big breasts."<br />"Aww</i>"<br />
So like I said the CGI isn't very good, but hey beautiful girls in a swimming pool are always fun.<br />
And yeah they are, and yeah its stupid that a "water resort" is dangerous now instead of just a lake, but its not the first time a movie took this plot (I love jaws 3).<br />
<br />
At least Crystopher Loyd is back, still awesome to just see the guy doing what he does best. Explaining mumbo jumbo and playing it straight. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VDrJFoTwqfqa4XayzlUNsp_X5jxUewz-9MsSX597BKaxUHKIeLiAoz77sypGZv4dl8LnS2H4-FsfosBIg2NF7UMYPt-rzR60xJy5L_madiYJXb9hWlOd9AMZlgpZg09ZaFgmBNQVfxk/s1600/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h33m05s255.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7VDrJFoTwqfqa4XayzlUNsp_X5jxUewz-9MsSX597BKaxUHKIeLiAoz77sypGZv4dl8LnS2H4-FsfosBIg2NF7UMYPt-rzR60xJy5L_madiYJXb9hWlOd9AMZlgpZg09ZaFgmBNQVfxk/s640/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h33m05s255.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Ok so something I haven't mentioned yet, at one point one of the girls a baby piranha swimming IN her vagina, and a while later while she has sex she dies and the piranha bites the guys dick off. No mater how much you are in panic who would cut off their dick instead of just cutting open the Piranha? It does gives us the greatest line in the movie:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
Early on its apparent most of it is going to be CGI, but we have some practical effects as well:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbhXTTWnLOWJqtv8fBGeZ4s62jGtwRe-ePhCCix1H1ZZ_HtiDDBk3RkB3OUto43CND1WoAqadmZnuJLStGGcoqQxIJiUzLYhJBlNHoAiIH-BCg1mZr9uXeHM8O5MhNXC63iTtWgGKYOrw/s1600/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h24m36s34.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbhXTTWnLOWJqtv8fBGeZ4s62jGtwRe-ePhCCix1H1ZZ_HtiDDBk3RkB3OUto43CND1WoAqadmZnuJLStGGcoqQxIJiUzLYhJBlNHoAiIH-BCg1mZr9uXeHM8O5MhNXC63iTtWgGKYOrw/s640/vlcsnap-2012-10-05-23h24m36s34.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>The first one is awful, the second screenshot looks a lot more fun doesn't it?</i></div>
<br />
<br />
So it took 40 minutes for this guy to appear, but its what we all have been waiting for...<br />
The Hoff in his first scene in the picture. To bad he is seen singing, what are we? Germans?<br />
<br />
<br />
Their is lots fun stuff here to, I know I am sounding a little harsh but I never got bored while watching this..<br />
For example the black Deputy from the first movie (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000609/">Ving Rhames</a>) is back (in a wheelchair cause fish ate his legs in the first one) and he has gotten a trauma from the events of the first movie. And yes, just like piranha 3D he steals every scene he is in. He's the best actor in the movie. Also he has gotten metal legs, doubling as a shotgun barrel.<br />
<br />
Ah but you might be thinking, how did the piranhas get in the pool? Why did you not explain this yet? Does it really matter? No it doesn't but oh well, since you insist. The pool owner (douche mc douche) decided to pump his own water with an illegal well. And it's good because he isn't pumping from the above ground lake, but from a deep underground lake. Do I need to explain more? So now the movie is about half way done and after some people got eaten in the lake the piranhas finally get to the mass killing. <br />
<br />
So thats where we are now. Before it wasn't that bad of a watch, just a bid stupid.<br />
But now the movie turns good. To bad we are 60 minutes in. To bad almost all the killing is with CGI effects, partly ruining what could be an awesome scene. At least now Hasselhoff has a fun part being himself being payed to be a lifeguard. He plays it straight and it just works wonderfully.<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTm7uEzqTfGLRld9PMsGObSLZpaE4_HcBrLT_NOCmLRiMEE5KpDfp3o82U7H8pwD-p1b9MnqNxspCCCiUtu5PCenQM0xa2-p2Jh-AKAJQ23sXiiLYk-E74Qs29oGaWuDkQA5RKhcHYz40/s1600/vlcsnap-2012-10-06-00h11m40s44.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTm7uEzqTfGLRld9PMsGObSLZpaE4_HcBrLT_NOCmLRiMEE5KpDfp3o82U7H8pwD-p1b9MnqNxspCCCiUtu5PCenQM0xa2-p2Jh-AKAJQ23sXiiLYk-E74Qs29oGaWuDkQA5RKhcHYz40/s640/vlcsnap-2012-10-06-00h11m40s44.png" width="640" /></a><br />
Time for another idiot quote:<br />
<br />
<i>"-whatever happens I want to tell you I loved you since 7 grade."<br />"I though you where gay?</i>"<br />
<br />
Thats a whole separate level of idiotic script. Also right before our damsel in distress gets eaten by a piranha, that fish gets eaten by a slightly bigger piranha. Thats just such a stupid thing to try for creating suspense. It's stupid because we never saw them eating each other before, especially when there is a delicious human around to eat.<br />
But oh boy do they try and recreate the success of the previous one. Mix gracious nudity with gore, suspense and lots of campy acting. However it does not fully work. But at least we still got a movie that tries and gives us that, its a lot better then most of the asylum movies with piranhas that are out there anyways. So if you have nothing to do, just turn of your brain and watch this. Oh and watch the credits, at least those are worth your time.<br />

<br />
Also note that this was shot in 3D and there are some moments where I wish I saw it in 3D for the camp that it would bring to the table. It might be a bit more fun watching this in 3D.<br />
I give it a<br />
<b>Score</b>: 6 out of 10 blood-soaked titties.<br />

Its much more stupid then the first one, less action and more trying to be as good.</div>
David Hasselhoff and the T&A partly do make it watchable. But don't say I didn't warn you.<br />
I hope Piranha 3DD gets a higher budget again.<br />

Oh wow, a review, after all these years? Whats gotten into me? don't fear, after all this time I was thinking about doing another review, just everything when I wanted to do so something got in my way. I WILL be back to reviewing for this blog again but with a new twist. No more pack reviews but rather just random movies again (which was what this blog became anyways).<br />
If you want to read reviews for something else then movies be sure to visit <a href="http://progressiveviolence.blogspot.be/">progressive violence</a>.<br />
<br />
But enough of me rambling, onto the review:<br />
<ul align="justify" style="text-align: left;">
<li>Year of release:2012</li>
<li>Director: Richard Schenkman</li>
<li>Genre: Horror</li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2246549/">IMDB Page</a></li>
</ul>
What we have here today is a movie called Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, truly a fanfic come to life. Obviously it's another asylum 'mockbuster' that takes its inspiration from big releases, this time the disaster that was Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.<br />
<br />
The movie starts with a young Abe Lincoln watching his mother becoming a zombie and his father committing suicide to get spared that same fate.<br />
Abe, being the ass-kicker that he is decapitates his mother and sets the tone for the rest of the movie.<br />
<br />

<br />
Later in life the president leads a team of soldiers to get rid of a zombie menace that has broken out in a fort. Along the way he meets a young Teddy Roosevelt, an old love interest and some more useless no plot people.<br />
<br />
First the good parts, there is a one-liner in this flick that in all honesty needed to be in this movie, if Lincoln after decapitating a zombie, shouting out "Emancipate this!" doesn't get a chuckle out of you I'm afraid you're better off never watching anything asylum ever.<br />
The actor who plays Abe needs to be mentioned, Bill Oberst Jr, who you will know from euhm, lots of movies nobody saw, looks like the real deal. He's doing a terrific job playing the president. During non zombie scenes you can believe you are watching a real drama instead of an asylum knockoff.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoDL1ZzeETu3romLUBs0-oVbDnPS7fW0682IDyE29t5E7V_0J938wKj5xQI3JKv4JmOjOqd80R001sYacNuvSZN_a_hTmRv99AC8ColtbD0vWe9olGv-47ynK8bYA28bbQH4rC3stjvz8/s1600/vlcsnap-2012-09-02-15h31m41s165.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoDL1ZzeETu3romLUBs0-oVbDnPS7fW0682IDyE29t5E7V_0J938wKj5xQI3JKv4JmOjOqd80R001sYacNuvSZN_a_hTmRv99AC8ColtbD0vWe9olGv-47ynK8bYA28bbQH4rC3stjvz8/s640/vlcsnap-2012-09-02-15h31m41s165.png" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The movie gets a bonus point for its ending. A nice surprise that almost redeems itself (but not really). Because there are lots of bad parts. All the non fighting parts are quite<br />
boring, and sometimes the glued on beards can feel a bit too fake at times.<br />
<br />
There is a scene in the end where one guy just walks through gangs of zombies without really getting attacked. He can just push them to the sides without trouble. How boring can you make these zombies? There is never real tension, the non zombie scenes are boring and the zombie scenes themselves are more ofter not then well.<br />
<br />
Also if you have zombies already as the enemy, do you really need another subplot with people from the south getting in quarrels with lincons gang and whatnot.<br />
And I understand trying to get this movie to feel like oldie times with a low budget, but does everything needs to be in sepia?<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: italic;">This would have been great as a musical.</span></div>
<br />
But everything being said and done, its still one of the better asylum movies, it can stand on its own, has an awesome lead actor and has a nice catchphrase. And lets be fair if you are going to watch Lincoln fighting mystical creatures this year it better be this one. Its the better one, but thats not saying much. It's also the most enjoyable asylum movie that I have seen in a while, but again not really saying much. Give it a chance if you want to. <br />

It's not funny, has a predictable plot and some of the more weaker acting I have seen in a big budget movie.<br />I'm sure there were worse romantic comedies out this year, but lucky I wasn't forced to watch those.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">4) Tekken (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifLfA66tR9p8tlE4Zy39rlJ9tgyEXI0FyQxU2LBkEd4o4M_mwQAr8OKAl0wojwvPBo2EOTRMtcXQDgepHvG6b1k5g47s-ytiOvRu5-C_LeyzFlTa4NjnyXITCi8jvEMOJDDF1iOK3wtWo/s1600/tekken-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 283px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifLfA66tR9p8tlE4Zy39rlJ9tgyEXI0FyQxU2LBkEd4o4M_mwQAr8OKAl0wojwvPBo2EOTRMtcXQDgepHvG6b1k5g47s-ytiOvRu5-C_LeyzFlTa4NjnyXITCi8jvEMOJDDF1iOK3wtWo/s400/tekken-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558024242454933746" border="0" /></a>A video game movie is almost never good news, and the same holds true for this crappy action movie. Didn't have high hopes for it so it wasn't a real disappointment.<br />On a positive note it is still better then Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li released in 2009.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">3) The Other Guys (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP_w3ezZc_OA_J6ABxg0aZRI174t1fAA1L1IrSkIZFcA61lsD-HqAkkH9IIkQu8iZ4Yp5R1YT5Dquf39vdarGrZyiKqb9tKXse5BFuE3RsYedxHoMIx5O5nz54u7TO55aqM8bk7mnrf4U/s1600/the-other-guys-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 270px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiP_w3ezZc_OA_J6ABxg0aZRI174t1fAA1L1IrSkIZFcA61lsD-HqAkkH9IIkQu8iZ4Yp5R1YT5Dquf39vdarGrZyiKqb9tKXse5BFuE3RsYedxHoMIx5O5nz54u7TO55aqM8bk7mnrf4U/s400/the-other-guys-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558025379888875794" border="0" /></a> Will Ferrell how low have you sunk. This movie is a comedy with one little problem, it's not funny. It would have worked if they removed the beginning and middle part and changed it into something good. This movie is aimed at nobody but the maker himself. I can't find a single redeeming feature in this documentary, they hardly even mention the games. This is just a boring movie, especially if you like to be entertained.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">1) 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOfeZ9NQ2ZLzswAfcsRWXt4nmQZKnAxN4lzXhDkQA_sP2RoHiR0eQFKNEMlHR-e-VfFC8qnieHU9WhGcLbCJT3E9C9E_Bq1p74GP5zL66yRO9BR95l4HcKsTunslddbqHOagegIJtUPlM/s1600/2001-maniacs-field-of-screams-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 284px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOfeZ9NQ2ZLzswAfcsRWXt4nmQZKnAxN4lzXhDkQA_sP2RoHiR0eQFKNEMlHR-e-VfFC8qnieHU9WhGcLbCJT3E9C9E_Bq1p74GP5zL66yRO9BR95l4HcKsTunslddbqHOagegIJtUPlM/s400/2001-maniacs-field-of-screams-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558029360137868818" border="0" /></a>I like the original movie by Gordon lewis, I kinda enjoyed the remake for what it's worth. I hate the sequels to the remake. It diminishes the other movies, it doesn't make sense, and it just a big, stinking pile of crap. This time the cannibal village is on the road with a circus show. Murdering some stereotypes. Sure there are some good gory scenes, but they are not really enjoyable this time around.<br /><br />Runner-ups:<br />Data Night, Frozen, Despicable Me.<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;"></span>Timhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09359801086362886603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817807816054453779.post-76399010820549825272011-01-03T16:47:00.024+01:002011-01-03T20:29:48.157+01:00top 10 best movies released in 2010Sorry for the lack of updates. Absolutely hilarious, this will be one of my most quoted movies of all time. I have seen this in the beginning of 2010. After a rewatch I might need to put it higher on the list.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">7) </span><span style="font-weight: bold;">American Grindhouse (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDfvx-VeT-7Ku5nKsrGvIv6SbXzE_7GfOxXsGuFCJ_SacV6IoNb1sA18rxqy-l-QIG2miOxmLGqpxs1PH9vGXKxyWrO9vH7bhJUI0ukM74kO_MQrWoE-JahVZkORLiuoDYhCWKJiiWRac/s1600/american-grindhouse-poster.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 280px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDfvx-VeT-7Ku5nKsrGvIv6SbXzE_7GfOxXsGuFCJ_SacV6IoNb1sA18rxqy-l-QIG2miOxmLGqpxs1PH9vGXKxyWrO9vH7bhJUI0ukM74kO_MQrWoE-JahVZkORLiuoDYhCWKJiiWRac/s400/american-grindhouse-poster.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558003559716079730" border="0" /></a>My second favorite documentary of the year. This is not just a list of the most famous exploitation movies, o no this looks at the very beginning of grindhouse movies, what inspired them, how they came to be, from the beginning of cinema to the present day. Even exploitation buffs will find something new in here, and if not will have a good time anyway. I saw the movie on a local film festival and it was the best decision of the year.<br />Interviews with Fred Williamson, Fred Olen Ray, Joe Dante, Herschell Gordon Lewis and Bob Minor. if that doesn't want you to watch this movie, maybe the trailer will:<br /><object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/AndtsMdk2fc?fs=1&hl=nl_NL"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/AndtsMdk2fc?fs=1&hl=nl_NL" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="340" width="560"></embed></object><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">6) Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAiI1WjthPUwvrcniFx0rTtVkJU1oB26obsIwBEQC5e9Xyec0uLhaiu6_gZTbn4SsdfuQT_t993VBxz_z0TXYKeSEM_T3EkuRKTa6SkGk94opYSDWqI-mkmvihgUpvVf5dCqd64X09Pww/s1600/batman-under-the-red-hood-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 290px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAiI1WjthPUwvrcniFx0rTtVkJU1oB26obsIwBEQC5e9Xyec0uLhaiu6_gZTbn4SsdfuQT_t993VBxz_z0TXYKeSEM_T3EkuRKTa6SkGk94opYSDWqI-mkmvihgUpvVf5dCqd64X09Pww/s400/batman-under-the-red-hood-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558001365542281874" border="0" /></a>Jep, a straight to dvd animated features hold the number 6 spot. This will probably be a surprise but this is a very well done movie. The animation is good (not great) but the story is tense, the joker is more of a bad ass then ever before and the music fits the story. A must see.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">5) </span><span style="font-weight: bold;">Best Worst Movie (2009)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiWdDz4x8urgmD1bXO_sldstoVffPdntqSSAXCLRJEjKP4GhUMjqgfy3a8XBitUa7pG5d9m5A2YDTMTr9eMFIvoP-RbJuQvA3ILHoTYVjG-RorvpY2HyQZhDNUflRxZ5YYsEPIDshKXhY/s1600/best-worst-movie-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 274px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiWdDz4x8urgmD1bXO_sldstoVffPdntqSSAXCLRJEjKP4GhUMjqgfy3a8XBitUa7pG5d9m5A2YDTMTr9eMFIvoP-RbJuQvA3ILHoTYVjG-RorvpY2HyQZhDNUflRxZ5YYsEPIDshKXhY/s400/best-worst-movie-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557997249929121218" border="0" /></a>If you are like me you love troll 2. If you love troll 2 you will love this documentary about it.<br />Some of the highlight include George Hardy repeating the you can't piss on hospitality line to everybody who he needs to examines (he is a popular dentist now) and the director of troll 2 Claudio Fragasso, who doesn't realize why troll 2 is now a cult phenomena. He blames the actors for not knowing how to act. The best documentary of the year, and it owns it all to the always sympathetic George Hardy.<br /><object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/0oX2LZ2xlMg?fs=1&hl=nl_NL"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/0oX2LZ2xlMg?fs=1&hl=nl_NL" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="340" width="560"></embed></object><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">4) The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (2009)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLhLf4gPoG9mrR9YIl5E0N1jzgGe5mKvF4ZW7ijXANeTySL1aJlZizqBS1rfZyrT6XOEUZHQ-77sl2JrXjB68Ma5A22Tg1VMyug6xeg2cQj0Z-Owiu0DlzLzxwMHgabLUCD_RX98_rZi0/s1600/the-bad-lieutenant-port-of-call-new-orleans-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLhLf4gPoG9mrR9YIl5E0N1jzgGe5mKvF4ZW7ijXANeTySL1aJlZizqBS1rfZyrT6XOEUZHQ-77sl2JrXjB68Ma5A22Tg1VMyug6xeg2cQj0Z-Owiu0DlzLzxwMHgabLUCD_RX98_rZi0/s400/the-bad-lieutenant-port-of-call-new-orleans-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558007429457610882" border="0" /></a>Every movie list needs Nicolas Cage. Thats just a fact. Every good movie list needs him twice, this is the first. Cage plays a bad cop, and after you have seen the flick you don't want him to play anything else ever again. He was born for this role. Best drug infused day dreams I have seen in a long time.<br /><object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/VCFpRsgxcNA?fs=1&hl=nl_NL"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/VCFpRsgxcNA?fs=1&hl=nl_NL" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="340" width="560"></embed></object><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">3) Shutter Island (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0A5a9QCbL1oVHNKxmiKiuxAI7CZQxgpEfXZp8hApSmsIV-OEidasiHSGmJvVnUaJ17tuzkZYAsI-DOlM4JFVfp000LMeqXIIMvGHmSuC0w0q_iiKLq3E7BCLoVF2bFXvB-bemZB54TjI/s1600/shutter+island.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 270px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0A5a9QCbL1oVHNKxmiKiuxAI7CZQxgpEfXZp8hApSmsIV-OEidasiHSGmJvVnUaJ17tuzkZYAsI-DOlM4JFVfp000LMeqXIIMvGHmSuC0w0q_iiKLq3E7BCLoVF2bFXvB-bemZB54TjI/s400/shutter+island.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558010962208920930" border="0" /></a>Probably the movie I looked most forward to this year, and it did not disappoint. Eventhough I liked gangs of new york, I didn't think of Leonardo DiCaprio as a good actor. That is until this new Martin Scorsese masterpiece. This movie slowly builds op a haunting atmosphere, constantly making the audience doubt about what is reality, all cumulating in one great finale. A must see!<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">2) Kick-Ass (2010)</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2dG2WhGrcnBkwD7dZGD4-ps7-al_MsJa9EgixdLvhnyn_v2ir_cerYLDTAGwuV2-pX8PHQ95mvzCP-oeOTMBCzGr7FiamU1FQ-olHBAgf6oLvgnmzj5bz55Q7PXO-HhsxSZz5DapsYhE/s1600/kick-ass-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2dG2WhGrcnBkwD7dZGD4-ps7-al_MsJa9EgixdLvhnyn_v2ir_cerYLDTAGwuV2-pX8PHQ95mvzCP-oeOTMBCzGr7FiamU1FQ-olHBAgf6oLvgnmzj5bz55Q7PXO-HhsxSZz5DapsYhE/s400/kick-ass-original.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5558012628465449426" border="0" /></a>Remember how I mentioned that every list needs a Nicolas Cage movie? Well this is my second one. Remember how I said that you don't want to see him play anything else but a bad cop? Well I lied, you also want to see him as a batman knockoff who uses extreme violence to take revenge on the bad guys. The graphic novel this is based on is the stronger work because it implements an incredible plot twist at the end. But even without this the movie is funny, violent and bloody.<br /><object height="340" width="560"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ymMOg_2yLuc?fs=1&hl=nl_NL"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ymMOg_2yLuc?fs=1&hl=nl_NL" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="340" width="560"></embed></object><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">1) Inception (2010)</span><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><img src="file:///C:/Users/Tim/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.png" alt="" /><img src="file:///C:/Users/Tim/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.png" alt="" /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://hwcdn.themoviedb.org/backdrops/07c/4c2a80607b9aa15e9a00007c/inception-original.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 420px; height: 262px;" src="http://hwcdn.themoviedb.org/backdrops/07c/4c2a80607b9aa15e9a00007c/inception-original.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a></div>Not my favorite Christopher Nolan movie, but still the best cinema experience I had this year. It is a very imaginative movie with strong performances and a story that excels at making you think while watching it. Today I bring you the first movie of the Milieu Trilog which gave us three of the best movies of the whole eurocrime genre. Directed by Fernando Di Leo , loved by many yet unknown to the masses.<br />
<ul>

<li>Director: Fernando Di Leo</li>
<li>Genre: Action, Crime</li>

The movie starts extremely well with one of the best pre-opening credit scenes out there. We get a small introduction to some characters and a bit of the plot with an intense atmosphre will listening to a progressive rock song. This scene leaves you with a lot of questions but also leaves you wanting more, a lot more. After the opening credits we get introduced to Ugo Piazza, played brilliantly by Gastone Moschin, who just got released from prison thanks to good behavior. He was safer in prison because his former employer, Rocco, a psychopathic gangster and the police all believe he stole $300,000 during his last assignment before he went into prison and that he chose to go to jail to protect himself and to later benefit from his hidden money. The $300,000 belonged to an American drug boss who does not like people stealing from him and who gives poor Ugo more then a hard time. Of course not everything is like it seams and many plot twists occur. <a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9e5ReOdBqII/S_aucUGE3QI/AAAAAAAACXY/qo2qV4IRwmQ/s1600/calib2.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473754198569180418" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9e5ReOdBqII/S_aucUGE3QI/AAAAAAAACXY/qo2qV4IRwmQ/s400/calib2.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 189px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 378px;" /></a><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/jFgsqj-feJED9LBF3faHVg?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_goOTcYF7VN4/Sq2kZOa6X8I/AAAAAAAAC-Y/5Rfse9kk7pA/s400/Milano6.JPG" style="height: 207px; width: 371px;" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The movie also contains an interesting subplot about two cops constantly arguing about rich vs poor people committing crime and what the best way is to deal with it. An interesting look in the Di Leo's politics.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img alt="http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/7058/milanoc1us8.jpg" src="http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/7058/milanoc1us8.jpg" style="height: 231px; width: 382px;" /></div>
<div>
The technical side of the movie is great with beautiful shots of Milan mixed with well made sets. The performances are excellent with an exception for some of the real small parts. The movies thrives with a mix of close up shots of peoples faces and some excellent scenes of packages being passed around in public areas. Those scenes have no dialog but more of the marvelous soundtrack. This soundtrack is a mix between progressive rock and more traditional funky 70's Italian crime music.<br />
<br />
This movie is an excellent introduction to the genre and is recommended to any movie fan willing to give it a shot.<br />

Sorry for the lack of updates. I will try to update more in the future, if you have any questions please read the FAQ.<br />
This time I review a bmovie with a great premise.<br />
<ul align="justify" style="text-align: left;">
<li>Year of release: 1971</li>
<li>Director: Michel Levesque</li>
<li>Genre: Horror, Action </li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067972/" id="imdb_link" title="User Rating: 2.6/10">IMDB Pag [User Rating:2.6/10]</a><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067972/">e</a></li>
</ul>
The premise: Werewolves on motercycles.<br />
That is all you get and indeed all you should want from any movie.<br />
The story:<br />
Here is how the script must have been:<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
-They do something cool like driving on the wrong lane (WHAT A BADASS GANG)<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
-They steal some gasoline (BADASS RIGHT?)<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
-They are sleeping<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
-they encounter a random satanic gang who try to sacrifice one of the female bikers. Our cool gang give them a good beating but they get cursed in the process.<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
-Two of them kill each other<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
- they are all spooked<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
- STILL NO FUCKING WEREWOLF IN THIS MOVIE (60 minutes in)<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
-a fistfight<br />
Gang is driving through the dessert.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk24/kuenfist/PDVD_001-26.jpg" style="height: 223px; width: 398px;" /><br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">They are such badasses. You know you don't want to mess with them.</span><br />
<br /></div>
At this point one of the crew members must have noticed that their weren't any werewolves to be found yet<br />
so in the last quarter or so finally we see some werewolves (who indeed ride on a motorcycle for like 5 seconds).<br />
They quickly get killed by the rest of the gang ending this disappointing movie.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk24/kuenfist/PDVD_006-27.jpg" style="height: 233px; width: 415px;" /><br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Guys this is no time to sleep, people where murdered just now.</span><br />
<br /></div>
I can't believe they messed this up, all they needed to do was have a gang of werewolves ride on motorcycles and do shenanigans like plunder towns, pillaging it and raping the girls.<br />
Now that would be a movie that is totally the opposite of this one (meaning not completely boring).<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk24/kuenfist/PDVD_008-20.jpg" style="height: 221px; width: 396px;" /><br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Warning these screens make the flick seem better then it is.</span><br />
<br /></div>
If you enjoy bad cinema that is so bad it remains bad, or you just don't like entertainment please search for this dvd. Otherwise just chuckle at the name of this movie and move on, their are so many better drive in movies then this one.<br />

Ps: listen to the commentary on the dvd, sound like they had a better time filming it then we have watching it.Timhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09359801086362886603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817807816054453779.post-5341326580588976362010-03-18T21:56:00.013+01:002012-09-02T16:27:44.090+02:00The Wasp Woman (1959)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJUucmn93MoQ9eCJYYFlsBqln4QK3sZRc18ijKxBEvyugzjDFDzw4yJW6k_xNFKdE6I-nnXdBN5cOYyP8mXLcZLF-ZNIFWAjtqYSMksDeefIB3HE0YRcN892BDFDyv04qc3s2ZptcVG5E/s1600-h/waspwoman.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450321065187634578" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJUucmn93MoQ9eCJYYFlsBqln4QK3sZRc18ijKxBEvyugzjDFDzw4yJW6k_xNFKdE6I-nnXdBN5cOYyP8mXLcZLF-ZNIFWAjtqYSMksDeefIB3HE0YRcN892BDFDyv04qc3s2ZptcVG5E/s400/waspwoman.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 277px;" /></a><br />
As promised another review from a movie pack. This time the honor goes to another Roger Corman movie, the king of bee movies (lame pun), The Wasp Woman also know as The Bee Girl from Sci-Fi Classics 50 Movie Pack. While this movie also got a remake it is a lot less popular then little shop of horrors <a href="http://bmoviesreviews.blogspot.com/2010/02/little-shop-of-horrors-1960.html">(read my review)</a>.<br />

She lost her good looks and well thats all that matters in a woman (at least back than). Luckly we are introduced to our mad scientist Dr. Eric Zinthrop, played by Michael Mark from from Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe), who isn't all that mad this time around (what a twist!). He found a way to reverse the aging process by extracting enzymes from the royal jelly of wasp queens. After receiving a letter from him Janice contacts him, desperate that she is to try anything. Dr. Eric Zinthrop performs his magic and makes an old guinea pig into a young white rat (I guess they didn't have to budget to get a young guinea pig?). Starlin agrees to pay for his reseach on one condition, that she can serve as a human subject. And what do you know, it works, day after day miss Starlin gets younger, and like all young people she has no patience anymore. So instead of listening to the advice of Zinthrop she breaks into his office and gets herself extra doses of the potion.<br />

Now Zinthrop himself has noticed some strange things with his other non-human test creatures and goes out to warn her in person, when what do you know he gets run over by a car! After a lot of trouble Janice manges to find him and is able to take care of him herself by letting him recover in her own company. Janice continues to excessively use the potions that Zinthrop made, and in just a single weekend she has gotten about twenty years younger but there are some nasty side-effects she turns into a murderous queen wasp (actually just herself with a wasp mask and a black sweater).<br />

Our lovely killer were-wasp kills 3 people before Zinthrop (who only just got better) kills here with acid (the exact same thing I use to kill bees and wasps around the house).<br />

And thus ends this parable with the message that you have to be glad with what you have instead of turning into a killer wasp queen (or something like that).<br />
It's obvious that Corman was inspired by the success that "The Fly" has gotten not long before this one. Not only does somebody also transform into an insect, take a loot at the movie poster, the "monster" looks nothing like this (quite the opposite actually with a wasp head and a human body). Maybe they first wanted to get the monster like this but the extreme low budget (It's a Corman film what did you expect) made them change their minds.<br />

<br />
The bad costume is really a shame, especially if you compare it with the fly and the production is quite underwhelming. Not only that but it takes a long time before we see the monster and things start to get more interesting. If it wasn't for the low budget I am sure this movie would be one of the more memorable flicks, the story is quite original, the scientist does not force his guinea pig but it's the other way around. It's the woman who is to greedy to return to her former beauty that thrives the plot, and if you think about it, it is our society itself that makes our protagonist into our antagonist.<br />
All in all a fun movie to watch, but it could be so much more.<b><br /></b><br />

Again the print on the sci-fi box is the same that can be found online and is quite bad. It is way to dark, making it sometimes very difficult to follow the more action based scenes. It's a shame but it is nothing less than I expected.Timhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09359801086362886603noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7817807816054453779.post-29298204428580141342010-02-28T17:15:00.018+01:002012-09-02T16:26:13.791+02:00Quel maledetto treno blindato (1978)<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpxy0_p5nkIuEB6Vof_pM2v5fqUkJKBmtkGLMQYeEoRGglLfv5iDlXiNcw5cMwotg1xBVEDMVbUQNRXynUyeNzo5uusqArzl76aJ7_oPZjG3W4yQvdmNFyrsIXrvK3vPV2kx-TEh1O8Co/s1600-h/front+bastards.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443459911425506290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpxy0_p5nkIuEB6Vof_pM2v5fqUkJKBmtkGLMQYeEoRGglLfv5iDlXiNcw5cMwotg1xBVEDMVbUQNRXynUyeNzo5uusqArzl76aJ7_oPZjG3W4yQvdmNFyrsIXrvK3vPV2kx-TEh1O8Co/s400/front+bastards.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 277px;" /></a>It's no surprise that this movie has been getting quite a lot of attention ever since Tarantino announced a movie that shares the title with this one (more or less). First lets take a look at some of the alternative titles for this movie: Deadly Mission, Counterfeit Commandos, G.I. Bro, Hell's Heroes, The Dirty Bastard, Commando Bastards, The Inglorious Bastards and now this latest version that I got, The REAL Inglorious Bastards. The real has just been added by the company who owns the rights to get a piece of the cake from the hype surrounding Quantin Tarantino's movie. This is made even more obviouis when reading the back-cover, adding Quantin Tarantino as much as possible in the movie description and even going as far as to call the cast Tarantino's favorites and to call this the ORIGINAL version of his latest movie.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUHQdxLpT-4MW915na__4UPUJOwdxfgkM6xNKBUw7N1efXD_BrTNIWY8Ehh0zQPah2CcnTWUbcmItVUqDPTuhn2fF02M9z6194XixwGVL4AljKN7oe8WmQ1kP4v1btjMBc_bAcQ4bN6Ns/s1600-h/tibr018qv.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443823813850939458" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUHQdxLpT-4MW915na__4UPUJOwdxfgkM6xNKBUw7N1efXD_BrTNIWY8Ehh0zQPah2CcnTWUbcmItVUqDPTuhn2fF02M9z6194XixwGVL4AljKN7oe8WmQ1kP4v1btjMBc_bAcQ4bN6Ns/s400/tibr018qv.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 221px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">I'm a </span><i style="font-style: italic;">lead farmer</i><span style="font-style: italic;">, mothafucka</span>!<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;"><br /></span></div>
While this is to be expected, I can't forgive it for this shameless promotion. Especially because this is not the original version of the latter movie, Tarantino borrowed only the title from this movie and based itself on the same movies that this movie is based on, namely The Dirty Dozen, Where Eagles Dare and Kelly's Heroes. Now that I got this rant out of the way, let's get on with the review.<br />
<br />
<ul align="justify" style="text-align: left;">
<li>Year of release: 1971</li>
<li>Director: Enzo G. Castellari</li>
<li>Genre: Action, Adventure, War,</li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0076584/">IMDB Page</a></li>
</ul>
The Inglorious Bastards is a school example of a so called Macaroni War movie, that's how we call those Italian war movies inspired by those American war movies like The Dirty Dozen. Not just ripping those movies off, but making it even more exciting.<br />
We know that Castellari can make good movies thanks to his The Warriors rip off movie "The Bronx Warriors", so there is little surprise that this movie is enjoyable one as well. This movie would be forgotten and difficult to find hower if not for having Fred Williamson, not only is Williamson 100 percent awesomeness, the director was aware of this and recut the movie to make it only about him cutting out the other scenes. This version was called G.I. Bro and I can only suspect it to be almost as good. The other reason that this movie is easily availible on dvd is of course thanks to as much people as possible trying to cash in on Tarantino's succes with his movie of the same title.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie5kVAvyOB-y6bE20FdI7DIEb5H3lPHUT3tQkRa1r-_mTJ7sJHoq3B-y1-BbLnuS8fEX9zhpRLYGpyd3Ng16By4BHTb1BaLe-ROCXjAuP6Af1d4fQOcGw_eXwAg6Cx79VGCueBoYhDF80/s1600-h/Ib2.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443823801204487106" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEie5kVAvyOB-y6bE20FdI7DIEb5H3lPHUT3tQkRa1r-_mTJ7sJHoq3B-y1-BbLnuS8fEX9zhpRLYGpyd3Ng16By4BHTb1BaLe-ROCXjAuP6Af1d4fQOcGw_eXwAg6Cx79VGCueBoYhDF80/s400/Ib2.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 219px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">The Dirty Five</span></div>
<br />
Set when WWII was coming to an end, a group of Americans sentenced to military prison find themself free in France when there convoy is bombed. Even-though they decided to go to the Swiss border to escape the war; they end up being mistaken for some American war heroes who came to France to help the resistance after some plot twists. Colonel Buckner realizes this but still decides to hire them to do a mission in return for immunity. The mission consist of stealing a rocket guidance system from a moving train. To make matters worse they have to make sure they won't be arrested by their own countrymen again.<br />
<br />
Even-though the story is quite straightforward, there was a plot point or two that was build up greatly and that I did not see coming. The acting is suprisingly good with Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson leading the cast with a lot of likable characters.<br />

There is non stop action (the one thing that a movie like this has to get right!). Castellari has made a lot of progress since the bronx warriors, with camera shots and special effects that far succeed anything he has done before this. This movie is pulp of the highest level, but their were some diminishing factors as well.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj61SF9tvk3Hc1nttuNOGWA16XPp2GJXTV6iEmJmD2t3tprhI3YvIxxRjW2NBnIjzA6jNZCBGRYNqnHh5XZ7rkC66WdtnZIJtrZwwwiPGRI-uaVstKnRagis6atJoYMjgxfjOwFJtBvRtk/s1600-h/tibr040dh.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443824148596610482" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj61SF9tvk3Hc1nttuNOGWA16XPp2GJXTV6iEmJmD2t3tprhI3YvIxxRjW2NBnIjzA6jNZCBGRYNqnHh5XZ7rkC66WdtnZIJtrZwwwiPGRI-uaVstKnRagis6atJoYMjgxfjOwFJtBvRtk/s400/tibr040dh.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 221px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">And the winner for the best "The Scream" impression is ...</span></div>
<br />
First of we get to many forced comedic moments, most of them by Michael Pergolani, who plays an Italian immigrant, who escapes from army prison all the time thanks to some useful tools he has hidden all over. It's those hidden tools that they went to far with, want some salt? Well look inside this fake grenade. What about something to fix our broken car? Look in his left pocket. What about pictures of naked women? He has them taped inside his helmet. Not only is this joke way to forced, it seems like they use it to get out of situations the writer had no idea how to finish.<br />
Another negative point is the fact that our heroes can stand in the open en none of the germans seem to know how to aim. While we can't expect any more from an eurowar movie, it can lessen the suspense a bit.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi70vRbpsQeWFG8px7lYd5OvfJlZUBAHmtxUkpbnH0SyfM0xm0UDx-NePm5We0_sl28azBgV18V6oF7H3vF8s3MAgaVJkKiWBlsm8E0TWEXfNX7piJVLNq7gjzbArpN0ElLoZ-SgHe97rg/s1600-h/tibr030dl.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443824148172615170" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi70vRbpsQeWFG8px7lYd5OvfJlZUBAHmtxUkpbnH0SyfM0xm0UDx-NePm5We0_sl28azBgV18V6oF7H3vF8s3MAgaVJkKiWBlsm8E0TWEXfNX7piJVLNq7gjzbArpN0ElLoZ-SgHe97rg/s400/tibr030dl.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 221px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: italic;">Make your own damn sandwich.</span></div>
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">In Conclusion:</span><br />
This movie was a fun ride with lots of action and explosions, a good cast, and a story that eventhough not original has some interesting ideas. For fans of Macaroni War movies and just action movie fans in general. But don't watch this wanting a smart war movie.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">The dvd:</span><br />
The dvd I have is a new released version by DFW. The original aspect ratio is 1.85:1, on this dvd however it is 1:78:1. Don't know why this has been changed but the picture quality is clear and crisp without any noticeable print damage. Sound quality is also top notch. The dutch subtitles are without errors and translate both the english and the german spoken parts. On the flip-side though there are no extras on the disk, just the movie. As I said in the beginning of the movie I did not like the shameless connections with Tarantino that this dvd cover makes, and the addition of REAL in the title makes no sense. But no matter what, if you want the dvd, this version is as good as any for sound and picture quality.<br />

This time another first! Another non-public domain movie by the name of Il Decameron (The Decameron for idiots) by Pasolini.<br />
<ul align="justify" style="text-align: left;">
<li>Year of release: 1971</li>
<li>Director: Pier Paolo Pasolini</li>
<li>Genre: Comedy, Drama</li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065622/">IMDB Page</a></li>
</ul>
Based of course on Boccaccio's popular collection of stories from the 14th century, Pasolini adapts around 10 of the 100 stories for his first entry of the<i> "Trilogy of life".</i>The trilogy of life actually contains this movie, The Canterbury Tales and Arabian Nights. All three based on medieval books (which I might review in the future?).<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIPLmUVsTGUmYr4MvgZcWZEA0ZXld3fyuVhUo673LW3Xhf0PZXiJN3HwyJZCEyzKygxNKAY2hAUB508HyNG7tcObfrmCrseQef7MQSeURTif3Ky1l4OgEF7ba9gwzfuo_KDRrbEmNdbGY/s1600-h/Screenshot1.png" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5438907978000436962" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIPLmUVsTGUmYr4MvgZcWZEA0ZXld3fyuVhUo673LW3Xhf0PZXiJN3HwyJZCEyzKygxNKAY2hAUB508HyNG7tcObfrmCrseQef7MQSeURTif3Ky1l4OgEF7ba9gwzfuo_KDRrbEmNdbGY/s400/Screenshot1.png" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 225px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">I always get the shitty.. whoops made that joke before.<br /></span></div>
The stories Pasolini shows us are sometimes connected, but not always. We follow Ciappelletto, a murderer, thief, homosexual and <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCcaMIcwz30">sodomist</a> who lies to a priest on his deathbed an therefore is hailed as a saint. The directors way of taking a stab at Christianity perhaps? We see some nuns exploring the sins of the flesh with a gardener who pretends he's a deaf mute (hilarity ensues), a nobleman who gets what is coming to him for being naive and many more stories.<br />
Pasolini himself appears in this movie as artist Giotto, who has been hired to paint a fresco in the city's cathedral. What is special about this part of the movie is that from this point on everything that happens become scenes of the fresco.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<br />
I'm not sure if this is just Pasolini being a narcissist or there are some quite deep meaning behind this all, but I am sure one of those arthouse buffs will tell me all about it (after all this is a review, not a analysis). At the end of the movie/fresco our painter wonders:<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">“Why create a work of art when dreaming about it is so much sweeter?”</span><br />

The movie itself must been one of the most convincing movies about medieval life I have seen, of course the amount of sex and humor are exaggerated, and the stories themselves are not too believable, it is the surroundings and the whole atmosphere created that made me believe it, not to much of a surprise considering the book it is based on.<br />
<br />
There is also an interesting paradox shown between two love stories, in the first one, we get a rich boy from a noble house who has sex with a girl from a good house. When the dad finds out he instead of killing him forces the boy to marry his daughter, ensuring the good name. When on the other hand the brothers of a girl find out she has been shagging (trying to keep it classy here) with a servant in the second story they secretly kill and bury him, showing us that in the end, what social class you where born in really mattered back then.<br />

<br />
Pasolini uses non-professional actors in this movie, he might have sacrificed some acting talent like this, but he sacrificed it for real, original and honest performances and people.<br />
I would still stay as far away from <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073650/">Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom</a> as possible, but if you want a realistic, all in all quite uplifting view of the dark ages, look no further than this first part of Pasolini's trilogy.<br />

Ok time for another Public Domain movie, this time however I did not encounter it on those movie packs, either it will be in the near future (thanks to this review of course) or it is not certain that the movie is in public domain. (but it probably is).<br />
<ul align="justify" style="text-align: left;">
<li>Year of release: 1963</li>
<li>Director: Herbert L. Strock</li>
<li>Genre: Horror, Sci Fi</li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056961/">IMDB Page</a></li>
</ul>
The Crawling Hand AKA Don't Cry Wolf AKA The Creeping Hand is by the hand of Herbert L. Strock. Who you will know from classic movies like euhm, ok well you won't know him (unless "I Was a Teenage Frankenstein" is more popular then I thought).<a href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_s_30zQFJp4g/RqLewMF_6JI/AAAAAAAAAH4/wVxWNGkmPVI/s1600-h/maltshopguy.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5089875448343554194" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_s_30zQFJp4g/RqLewMF_6JI/AAAAAAAAAH4/wVxWNGkmPVI/s200/maltshopguy.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center;" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: italic;">This was the most terrifying scene from the movie.</span></div>
<br />
The movie starts with two scientists wondering why they didn't heard back from the astronaut they where monitoring. When he interrupts him in the middle of their conversation (the arrogance). Now because they are scientist they immediately notice that something is not right, not hard considering he has black rings around his eyes without being a goth and o yeah, he died because he ran out of oxygen. Since scientist become scientist so they can blow shit up, they blow him up, destroying this abomination of nature. Or not? For some reason one of the scientist gives us a lecture about why they blew him up, but to be honest I wasn't paying attention cause it was extremely boring and goes on for forever. It's like they needed 7 more minutes of playtime and decided to instead of just showing us a black screen or anything else at least a bit entertaining they let one of the actors play my old math teacher.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIeLsrfMGKgqE-MIR2K_LPypYiIsyKxeNGjhWFiH4e4Qli-Wb8blrz2KNKvaiCBzviKsA9v7tHwv8IHiB035sYeDHlYjn7VgRFe0LEsljmVqAumCa1xEftLWd0uvPoe8brrOJPrJGZNRA/s1600-h/CrawlingHand2.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436747612238870642" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIeLsrfMGKgqE-MIR2K_LPypYiIsyKxeNGjhWFiH4e4Qli-Wb8blrz2KNKvaiCBzviKsA9v7tHwv8IHiB035sYeDHlYjn7VgRFe0LEsljmVqAumCa1xEftLWd0uvPoe8brrOJPrJGZNRA/s400/CrawlingHand2.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 132px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 175px;" /></a><b style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">I'm like so into goth-rock.</span></b><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Apparently the scientist was blown up in pieces with his arm (with hand intact) lands on a random beach on earth. Now around this time the movie actually gets interesting. That's because around this time we are introduced to the lovely Marta, played by Sirry Steffen a former miss Iceland winner.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPdccAPAAoM7wQflR8uyP6JFdJMFM3b_TDeanm1iktJzoQ57d5fD0BEHl8XhUtEagbSyJ4P62dWH68iryoPZG1vYDCXnTDvzfpJoZ-GZZWVGgk-zU24AnV9B7AYp2pi_h9W1Lu-L39G0U/s1600-h/Crawling+Hand+%285%29.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436755877142855970" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPdccAPAAoM7wQflR8uyP6JFdJMFM3b_TDeanm1iktJzoQ57d5fD0BEHl8XhUtEagbSyJ4P62dWH68iryoPZG1vYDCXnTDvzfpJoZ-GZZWVGgk-zU24AnV9B7AYp2pi_h9W1Lu-L39G0U/s400/Crawling+Hand+%285%29.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 246px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">Why couldn't the whole movie be like this, forget about the man-killing hand.</span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
Besides Marta we get to be introduced to Syd Saylor, who owns a soda shop where everybody is dancing on The <i>Bird's</i> the Word, making this one of the best soundtracks of all the 60s sci-fi movies. Sadly this was the last movie Saylor did before he died, that's right after being in movies and on tv over 400 times, THIS was the movie that finally killed him.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAYFEco7oGNFGarythPFFI44yWjImyb7rVTIHUJ6QRpsETu_J4bzWrXQTWCUkb3PfUJYqCTE2hsxOsHqMgrd8TYrOegjZL98yWrHCT-r9ebp8BGPn47JOtpFVOMR_W7oXKXnuhyphenhyphenVMeEtg/s1600-h/CrawlingHand4.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436763090269161474" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAYFEco7oGNFGarythPFFI44yWjImyb7rVTIHUJ6QRpsETu_J4bzWrXQTWCUkb3PfUJYqCTE2hsxOsHqMgrd8TYrOegjZL98yWrHCT-r9ebp8BGPn47JOtpFVOMR_W7oXKXnuhyphenhyphenVMeEtg/s400/CrawlingHand4.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 132px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 175px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">Watch the crawling hand, YOU will believe a HAND can CRAWL.</span><br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">It's like the beast with five fingers, but from SPAAACE.</span><br />
<br /></div>
Marta and her boyfriend Rod come across the arm of the astronaut and for some reason Rod secretly sneaks it home. As aspected the hand then starts killing people and influences Rod turning him into a goth himself. The rest of the story really is nothing special, hand kills people, rod almost kills people, the people killing hand was no match against some cats and some of the worst paramedics ever (who, I kid you not, steal beer from a death woman's fridge). The same paramedics who later in the story are given the key to a chest where the hand has been locked in (smart move).<br />
Instead of elaborating the story, just watch the best scene from the second part of the movie:<br />
<object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FqGgLHnxRpA&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FqGgLHnxRpA&hl=nl_NL&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><br />
In conclusion, this movie is not good, for better hands killing people watch "The Beast With Five Fingers" or "The Hand", the acting is often just over-the top bad (but not in a good way) and the movie is just to boring to like it. There are some good moments (all involving either Syd Saylor or Sirry Steffen) but not enough to cover for the other parts. There are to many sci-fi movies from that era to watch em all, and I suggest you just skip this one.<br />

What better way to kickstart this blog then to review a movie from the 50 horror classics pack that is such a little obscure and bad flick that even mst3k wouldn't touch it? (note: mst3k was never available for watching here in Belgium, I don't have the foggiest idea what they did or did not made fun at.)<br />
<br />
Well that would be a good idea but instead I'll review the original Little Shop Of Horrors.<br />
<ul align="justify">
<li>Year of release: 1960</li>
<li>Director: Roger Corman</li>
<li>Genre: Comedy, Horror</li>
<li><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054033/">IMDB Page</a></li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
Let's be honest, this movie would not ring a lot of bells if it wasn't for the musical that was based upon this story, eventually resolving into the 1986 famous version. It might be a good idea to compare both movies in this review. Well no, I will save that for when I review the musical version (if ever). The story starts with our main persona, Seymour Krelboyne (Jonathan Haze) working as a clumsy helper in a flower store. The store isn't doing very well but we do get to see some regular customers who represent everything that works with the humor of this movie. First we have Mrs. Siddie Shiva, and old annoying lady who has to buy flowers everyday because a new relative has just died. Another regular is Burson Fouch who buys flowers as a snack or as a dinner, the funny part is that nobody seems to find it that strange.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKzP2eishPULL46vWiUboFXY9oSOtKWOPSDI0dSdq0C4tqHoZ7Wlms6WRwSD_nNeVOQadsQt-RSQejtXNnVAOaMjv0ScWYUFFy9VUZF6bWRIxqnEpbIbQolKHURZdu3kxTa5AcYUNSSGA/s1600-h/ec00c52ae99fc37cef59bbe6541fa5.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435482398987542002" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKzP2eishPULL46vWiUboFXY9oSOtKWOPSDI0dSdq0C4tqHoZ7Wlms6WRwSD_nNeVOQadsQt-RSQejtXNnVAOaMjv0ScWYUFFy9VUZF6bWRIxqnEpbIbQolKHURZdu3kxTa5AcYUNSSGA/s400/ec00c52ae99fc37cef59bbe6541fa5.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 266px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">I always get the shitty roles.</span></div>
Seymour is so clumsy however that his greedy boss Gravis Mushnick (Mel Welles) wants to fire him. Luckily we have our love interest of the movie Audrey Fulquard who together with flower eating Burson convinces his boss to give him another shot by showing his new breed of plant, a cross-bred from a <span class="mw-redirect">butterwort</span> and a Venus Flytrap (a buttertrap?). The plant, titled Audrey Junior (get it?), does not gather much attention at first but when our "hero" accidentally drops some of his own blood on it, the plant start growing. After feeding the plant with as much blood as he can miss, Seymour takes a walk to think what he will do next. In frustration he randomly throws a rock which lands on probably the most lucky man in the world who then falls into the tracks right before an incoming train. Since this man is dead anyway, Seymour decides to at least have some use out of him and feeds him to the plant.<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-style: italic;">let me take a look into this giant man-eating plant.</span></div>
This first accidents leads to many people disappearing by Seymoure (he is not really a murderer, but accidents happen right?).<br />
The greedy boss finds out that the plants feeds on humans but when he wants to put an end to it, he finds out how many people are visiting his shop looking at this marvelous eight wonder of the world (or so it seems) and he decided that the plant can stay as long as he gets his profit.<br />
The world is shocked however when the plant blooms and the faces of all the people it has eaten are shown in the flowers. I won't give the ending away but it is quite dark and fits right in with the overall feel of the movie.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI4f0OlRcv_cPvPmibuQJSq3e8tZ6Es-OxXx4aL-uyVgXSxNishU569wIP_bu_f-n-6UZ60vXDUufdi3RcBf3-EQwnJSfUA2-JGxoRgpxsWSLqHunQkK3MUNsJRq5MKFYSiVw3HOfOzPk/s1600-h/Capture.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435483535178419154" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjI4f0OlRcv_cPvPmibuQJSq3e8tZ6Es-OxXx4aL-uyVgXSxNishU569wIP_bu_f-n-6UZ60vXDUufdi3RcBf3-EQwnJSfUA2-JGxoRgpxsWSLqHunQkK3MUNsJRq5MKFYSiVw3HOfOzPk/s400/Capture.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 303px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">Heeere's Johnny! </span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
This movie is known for two facts (besides the musical). First that it was shot in two days making this whole thing quite impressive and two that Jack Nicholson started his career with a small part in this flick.<br />
This has to be viewed as the dark comedy with some horror influences, not as a serious horror movie, and you know what? It works, the humor doesn't come from jokes or slapstick but it comes from the story and the characters creating a whole overall feel of enjoyment. The story also plays out more like a parody of horror movies of that time than an actually horror movie. The acting is great with a special mention for Nicholsons sadomasochist persona who gives us a great dentist scene.<br />
<br />
It does have some small problems though, the love interest scenes feel forced and undermine the overall darkness of the humor and even by 1960 standards the special effects feel and look shoddy (junior was probably made by the local kindergarten with Papier-mâché).<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNGFJVYKZLvomAvNpW-0FiJnr9U9GyPoYSZpRINmlifzagheZCvw5TjMW2OUZHYZ0iwtSbQbno1cUVjENHrnST3RUdxoMycn9PbZFWh7o3WZaZdsF5WabLBbLtZDMr7jMXnd36dFAPW6o/s1600-h/Capture.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435501321433575394" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNGFJVYKZLvomAvNpW-0FiJnr9U9GyPoYSZpRINmlifzagheZCvw5TjMW2OUZHYZ0iwtSbQbno1cUVjENHrnST3RUdxoMycn9PbZFWh7o3WZaZdsF5WabLBbLtZDMr7jMXnd36dFAPW6o/s400/Capture.JPG" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 302px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">This is where the term flower power actually came from.</span><br />
<br /></div>
The print on the "Horror Classics 50 Movie Pack" is more or less the same as the one that can be streamed from archive.org, so even-though it is not the best quality you can get, it does not diminish the overall enjoyment of this movie.<br />
<br />
So in conclusion: It is not a horror movie, it's a dark comedy and a great one at that.<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;">1) You made a spelling mistake on your review of movie "x". Are you a retard missing half a brain or something?</span><br />
Yes.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">2) Really?</span><br />
Well that is only half the answer, I do like to point out that English has never been my native tongue, nor do I claim to be an actual writer. I do like to share my knowledge and experience with whoever stumbles upon this site but you will just have to look past spelling and grammar mistakes.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">3) I like your site zo far, but so few reviews have been made. Please be more active!</span><br />
Ok, It is not like I have anything else to do, ever.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">4) Your lay-out hurts my eyes, change it!</span><br />
Any constructive comments will be read before ignored. Any non constructive comments will be ignored.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">5) This site is stupid</span>.<br />
This is not a question, please reformulate.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">6) Is this site stupid?</span><br />
No.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">7) Can I request a review from you?</span><br />
Sure can, anything goes as long as I can get my hands on a physical copy.<br />
<br />

The purpose of this blog is quite simple to review movies and music. I haven't really figured out yet what categories of movies and music I will constrain myself to but I hope it will be a natural evolution. I first had the idea to start my own review blog when I was searching for someone that had reviewed all the public domain movies in the Horror Classics 50 Movie Pack and the Sci-Fi Classics 50 Movie Pack. Only for the more famous movies (the few real classics) I found decent reviews.<br />
<div style="text-align: right;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqaJ2b3tsH0HvXBZzK00Xu6DU4qLo_bIBTx0oaYprCudzuMPQhv0gmskdVygkE-evkbzWwp0MUXArcbAaYDV8BrbL8ewGwPxSjGSidu40frxKrhPRGdTaJTm7O3Zgmgl_D63xdc3rM4m4/s1600-h/sci-fi-classics-50.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435264691920950914" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqaJ2b3tsH0HvXBZzK00Xu6DU4qLo_bIBTx0oaYprCudzuMPQhv0gmskdVygkE-evkbzWwp0MUXArcbAaYDV8BrbL8ewGwPxSjGSidu40frxKrhPRGdTaJTm7O3Zgmgl_D63xdc3rM4m4/s400/sci-fi-classics-50.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: right; height: 365px; margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; width: 257px;" /></a></div>
So<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Part 1 of my mission statement is:</span><br />
Put online a review for all 50 movies from both the horror and the sci-fi "classics" packs. Those movies are all in the public domain so easy available for everyone. I will be receiving another movie pack soon as well, so new additions of public domain movies will be made.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Part 2: Reviews of other movies</span><br />
Beside those reviews I may or may not review other movies. Those will probably be bmovies or just oldies. I honestly haven't decided what to do yet.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-style: italic;">Part 3 : La musique</span><br />
Besides movies my other passion is oldschool metal, since I want to force my opinion upon everyone who stumbles upon this blog, I will add reviews of either obscure albums or just what I happen to be listening to when I got some time on my hands. I also might add soundtrack reviews sinds this can be quiet hard to find.<br />
<br />
Note: The blog and all its content is still under construction until further notice. Feel free to add any comments.<br />

No more take on the pack reviews. Instead going for random movies from my collection.Timhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09359801086362886603noreply@blogger.com0
