Top 5 "exploitation" movies that I have seen of 2010

5) Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl
They say a picture sais more then a thousand words, so here you go:
Not convinced yet? What if I told you that the director is Yoshihiro Nishimura?
I thought so.

4) Rampage
An uwe boll movie that isn't a terrible movie. Definitely the biggest surprise of 2010.

3) Rubber
No this is not a PSA for safe sex, its a strange french horror comedy that had me loughing out load several times during some of the weirdest moments I have seen on film.
More an arthouse comedy then a real exploitation picture, but I still like to put it in the list (it is my list after all). Seen this on a filmfestival, and glad I did cause it doesn't get shown a lot around here.

2) Piranha 3D
Christopher Lloyd singlehandedly makes this a must watch movie. Besides him there is blood, guts, nudity, humor and lovely winks to the other piranha/killer shark movies. This movie is not for everyone. If you don't like gore, naked women or killer animal movies, you're best bet is to stay away.

1) Machete
I loved this false trailer that was shown for Grindhouse. I was heavily expecting the movie when I first heart about the news. Especially since they got everyone from the trailer to play their part.
The movie itself turned out to be a little les action oriented than the first trailer, but it is still a must see, giving new popularity to grindhouse flix.

Top 5 worst movies of 2010

Note: I haven't seen all movies released this year, only movies that where released over here in 2010 count.
5) Zot van A. (2010)

There are a few romantic comedies that I like, this is not one of them. It's not funny, has a predictable plot and some of the more weaker acting I have seen in a big budget movie.
I'm sure there were worse romantic comedies out this year, but lucky I wasn't forced to watch those.

4) Tekken (2010)
A video game movie is almost never good news, and the same holds true for this crappy action movie. Didn't have high hopes for it so it wasn't a real disappointment.
On a positive note it is still better then Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li released in 2009.

3) The Other Guys (2010)
Will Ferrell how low have you sunk. This movie is a comedy with one little problem, it's not funny. It would have worked if they removed the beginning and middle part and changed it into something good. Then only the ending would have sucked.

2) Get Lamp (2010)
I like text adventures games, so it would be normal to assume that a documentary about text adventures games would be an interesting watch for me, but you would be wrong. This movie is aimed at nobody but the maker himself. I can't find a single redeeming feature in this documentary, they hardly even mention the games. This is just a boring movie, especially if you like to be entertained.

1) 2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams (2010)
I like the original movie by Gordon lewis, I kinda enjoyed the remake for what it's worth. I hate the sequels to the remake. It diminishes the other movies, it doesn't make sense, and it just a big, stinking pile of crap. This time the cannibal village is on the road with a circus show. Murdering some stereotypes. Sure there are some good gory scenes, but they are not really enjoyable this time around.

Runner-ups:
Data Night, Frozen, Despicable Me.

top 10 best movies released in 2010

Sorry for the lack of updates. I might blow some new life in the site after all.
But today I present the first of my top 10 lists of 2010.
Note: I haven't seen all movies released this year, only movies that where released over here in 2010 count.

10) Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)
I loved the comic, I'm not the biggest connoisseur of comic books but this one hold my interest. And I was very glad to see that the movie did everything right, a very faithful adaptation that is more style over substance.

9) Robin Hood (2010)
A dark and gritty reboot of Robin Hood. Just what the character needed.

8) Black Dynamite (2009)
Black Dynamite is to blaxploitation what Austin Powers is to those gazillion British spy-thrillers from the 60s. Absolutely hilarious, this will be one of my most quoted movies of all time. I have seen this in the beginning of 2010. After a rewatch I might need to put it higher on the list.

7) American Grindhouse (2010)
My second favorite documentary of the year. This is not just a list of the most famous exploitation movies, o no this looks at the very beginning of grindhouse movies, what inspired them, how they came to be, from the beginning of cinema to the present day. Even exploitation buffs will find something new in here, and if not will have a good time anyway. I saw the movie on a local film festival and it was the best decision of the year.
Interviews with Fred Williamson, Fred Olen Ray, Joe Dante, Herschell Gordon Lewis and Bob Minor. if that doesn't want you to watch this movie, maybe the trailer will:

6) Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)
Jep, a straight to dvd animated features hold the number 6 spot. This will probably be a surprise but this is a very well done movie. The animation is good (not great) but the story is tense, the joker is more of a bad ass then ever before and the music fits the story. A must see.

5) Best Worst Movie (2009)
If you are like me you love troll 2. If you love troll 2 you will love this documentary about it.
Some of the highlight include George Hardy repeating the you can't piss on hospitality line to everybody who he needs to examines (he is a popular dentist now) and the director of troll 2 Claudio Fragasso, who doesn't realize why troll 2 is now a cult phenomena. He blames the actors for not knowing how to act. The best documentary of the year, and it owns it all to the always sympathetic George Hardy.

4) The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans (2009)
Every movie list needs Nicolas Cage. Thats just a fact. Every good movie list needs him twice, this is the first. Cage plays a bad cop, and after you have seen the flick you don't want him to play anything else ever again. He was born for this role. Best drug infused day dreams I have seen in a long time.

3) Shutter Island (2010)
Probably the movie I looked most forward to this year, and it did not disappoint. Eventhough I liked gangs of new york, I didn't think of Leonardo DiCaprio as a good actor. That is until this new Martin Scorsese masterpiece. This movie slowly builds op a haunting atmosphere, constantly making the audience doubt about what is reality, all cumulating in one great finale. A must see!

2) Kick-Ass (2010)
Remember how I mentioned that every list needs a Nicolas Cage movie? Well this is my second one. Remember how I said that you don't want to see him play anything else but a bad cop? Well I lied, you also want to see him as a batman knockoff who uses extreme violence to take revenge on the bad guys. The graphic novel this is based on is the stronger work because it implements an incredible plot twist at the end. But even without this the movie is funny, violent and bloody.

1) Inception (2010)
Not my favorite Christopher Nolan movie, but still the best cinema experience I had this year. It is a very imaginative movie with strong performances and a story that excels at making you think while watching it. Sure it might be a little overhyped but that should not be an excuse to trash the movie. Well deserved first spot.

Runner-ups:
Up in the air, A serious Man, Planet Hulk.

Haven't seen:
The Town, Toy Story 3, How To Train Your Dragon, Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus and many more.
